“I believe the County Executive’s recommended budget is a great starting point for Council consideration.
“The County Executive is exactly right in putting his emphases on education, transportation, public safety, economic development, and helping the vulnerable among us. It provides real property tax relief, at the Charter limit, for homeowners hard-pressed by rising assessments.
“We live in a great County. Our economy is diversified and booming. People’s home values are soaring. Lots of people want to live here. And we work hard to take care of those less fortunate, filling gaps left by federal and state cutbacks or indifference.
“That didn’t just happen by accident. Montgomery County is a great place to live, bring up a family, and grow a business because of 12 years of wise investments by County Executive Duncan, working with the County Council. While the Council will inevitably make some adjustments, the ‘big picture’ of this budget looks very good.”
