Month Ahead Story Planner and Upcoming Events from the Montgomery County Office of Public Information

The following events are scheduled for the coming month. All are subject to change and anyone interested in attending or covering one of these events should confirm the information beforehand with the Office of Public Information at 240-777-6507.
Event: PHOTO OPPORTUNITY – Enhanced Pedestrian Safety Enforcement Effort – McGruff the Crime Dog and Sparky the Fire Dog to Test Whether Drivers Will Stop for Pedestrians Date/Time: Monday, November 2 at 10:30 a.m. Location: Intersection of Georgia Avenue and Colesville Road, Silver Spring
Event: Day-long Snow Removal Mock Exercise to test the preparedness of the County’s snow plans and fleet. Staff will handle a simulated snow storm. To ride along with a snow plow operator or observe the Snow Operations Center, contact Esther Bowring, 240-777-6507. Date/Time: Tuesday, November 3, beginning at 7 a.m. Location: Countywide
Event: Snow Summit – County Executive Isiah Leggett will give opening remarks. Officials from all agencies in the County with snow removal operations will assess their readiness for this winter’s storms and discuss new initiatives. Event: Summit on the Future of Libraries Date/Time: November 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Location: Universities at Shady Grove, 9630 Gudelsky Drive, Rockville
