Case Study:
Fletcher's Service Center
Olney, Maryland
2005

Two scenes showing the future site of the patio and rain garden; note the at-grade inlet which was receiving sheet flow from the approximately 1,200 sq. ft. area. (02/15/05)

After construction of the patio, using permeable pavers, DEP staff and workers from Fletcher's removed turf layer; rototilled and removed existing soil; brought in a soil mix of sand, compost, and top soil; spread and incorporated the soil mix across the 750 sq. ft. site.; and finally applied a 3" layer of shredded hardwood mulch.
(May 2005)

Views of the rain garden and patio after the first rain.  Rainscapes sign still needs to be put in place; additional plantings are scheduled for autumn 2005.
