Whether you are a landlord or a tenant, you may file a complaint with Landlord-Tenant Affairs. The procedure is as follows:
- Call 240-777-3609 for a complaint form and/or advice on how to file.
- Fill out the complaint form. You will be required to provide:
- your name, address, and daytime/evening telephone number
- the name, address and daytime telephone number of the party against
whom you are complaining
- the address of the rental property
- the specifics of the complaint
- a copy of the lease and copies of supporting documentation
- Send a copy of the complaint form to the other party immediately
- Wait one week to allow time for a response. If you do not receive a response or resolution of the complaint, send the form to Landlord-Tenant Affairs.
- Upon receipt by this office, an acknowledgement letter giving you the case number and the name of the Landlord-Tenant Affairs Investigator who has been assigned to your case will be sent to you.
