Officials from the Montgomery County Department of Economic Development were on hand during the recent America-China Women Business Leaders Conference to welcome a delegation from China. The conference is the first and only event in America, promotes the partnership and friendship between accomplished women entrepreneurs and executives from the most advanced economy and the fastest growing economy by bringing together significant number of women business executives from China and the United States.

Since its inception in 2005, the annual conference has grown by an astounding 100 percent yearly. This year, some 300-400 people were expected to attend.

| Representatives from Montgomery County recently participated in a conference entitled "Accelerating Innovation in 21st Century Biosciences, co-sponsored by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute. The conference brought together scientists from around the world to identify and priortize measurement, standards and technology barriers to economic development and scientific discovery.
