Rabies Program

The Rabies Program provides consultation to medical providers and Montgomery County residents regarding potential human exposure to animal bites and other possible exposures. Disease Control nurses conduct rabies risk assessments for residents and may or may not refer residents for rabies post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) at a hospital emergency room.  PEP consists of a dose of human rabies immune globulin (HRIG) and rabies vaccine.
