Corridor Advisory Committees (CACs)

News and Upcoming Events

Background and Purpose

Until November 21st 2014, Montgomery County Department of Transportation reached out to residents and businesses inviting them to serve on the county’s Rapid Transit System (RTS) Corridor Advisory Committees (CACs). These committees are part of the Montgomery County Department of Transportation's (MCDOT) and the State of Maryland's commitment to developing a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) System in Montgomery County.

Now that these committees have been formed, they will be providing community stakeholders (area residents, businesses, community organizations and others) the opportunity to participate in the BRT System planning process. By working with engineers, architects, land use professionals, and planners, these committees will be advising MCDOT and the State in the decision process related to:

Refer to this CAC Overview for a quick synopsis of the process the County used in creating these advisory committees.

Three major corridors in Montgomery County will be studied over the next two years. The three corridors have been divided into five segments, with each segment having a Corridor Advisory Committee (CAC). The five segments are the following:

  1. MD 355 North (north of Rockville Metro Station)
  2. MD 355 South (south of Rockville Metro Station)
  3. US 29 - North (north of New Hampshire Ave)
  4. US 29 - South (south of New Hampshire Ave)
  5. MD 586 (Veirs Mill Road)

Written meeting summaries of each of these CACs are shown on their respective web pages, under Meeting Documents toward the bottom of the page. Video tape recordings of each meeting have been available since August, 2015. Links to the videos are also shown in the Meeting Documents section of each page, or you can visit the web page containing all of the video links.
