Q. At what hours can volunteers assist at the Center?

  1. Volunteers are welcome to work during the Center’s public hours:
    Monday through Friday: 12 a.m – 7 p.m.
    Saturday, Sunday: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Q. Are there group volunteer activities?

  1. Yes, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator for more information.

Q. Is there a minimum time commitment to be a volunteer?

  1. Volunteers are expected to work at least 8 hours a month for six months.

Q. How do I become a volunteer?

  1. Please fill out a volunteer application and send it back to the Volunteer Coordinator.* Applications will be screened by Center staff. Selected applicants must complete an interview and, if requested, a background investigation.  Applicants who pass the background investigation will be offered a volunteer assignment based on available openings in the Center. (* Effective June 1, 2014, we will no longer be accepting new volunteer applications for individuals. We have received a very high volume of applications. We will try our best to place applicants who have submitted an application prior to this date. Applicants are selected based on availability (weekends versus weekdays), current needs of the shelter, interests of the volunteer, etc. We will make a website announcement when we are accepting new applications. Q. Do I have to attend orientation and training?

  1. All volunteers are required to attend orientation and a series of training sessions related to their assignment(s).
