Looking for employment in today's job market can be challenging. Come to this workshop and learn about using strategies like contacting professional associations, doing volunteer work, networking and using the internet efficiently to research companies, identify openings, make contacts, search for positions, and post your resume. These strategies will maximize your chances of landing a job and allow you to continue to build your skills and marketability.


Presenter(s)

Melissa S. Fireman MCDP is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Washington Career Services, a career management firm specializing in organizational and career consulting for individuals, academia, and industry. She has 15 years experience in business, recruiting, training and career development. Melissa was formerly the Human Resources Manager for Staffing and Development at Time Life Inc. (division of Time Warner). She created a variety of managed programs including the Time Life employee development-training program, as well as innovative talent acquisition and retention initiatives. Later, she worked as the Employer Relations Representative/Career Consultant for The George Washington University Career Center, where she developed relationships with employers from the private, public and government sectors. Melissa earned her MS in Organizational/Clinical Counseling at Johns Hopkins University and obtained her BA in Sociology and Business from the University of Maryland, College Park. Melissa has been featured in the Washington Post, the Boston Globe and The Quarterlifer's Companion: How To Get On The Right Career Path, Control Your Finances, And Find The Support Network You Need To Thrive.
