PROBLEM SOLVING FOR COUPLES

Problems arising in relationships are best resolved when couples share openly with each other.
This course will teach two fundamental tools used to resolve conflict: sharing and listening. Everyone wants to be heard and and understood and when this happens winning solutions are created.
This two-session workshop is for COUPLES ONLY. Registration is limited to 10 couples. Participants must be interviewed before registration.

Marian Horton, MSW, is a counselor at the Commission on Women. She has a 30-year career in business, professional, career, and personal coaching. Along with her husband of 32 years, Marian has co-led PAIRS (Practical Application of Intimate Relationship Skills) Mastery for the past five years. PAIRS teaches the skill of relating and the underlying dynamics for sustaining intimacy. Participants are taught communication skills, self-understanding, conflict resolution techniques and tools for enhancing intimacy. The Mastery course takes place in a group setting over a six-month period. Marian is a certified Level I & II PAIRS instructor.
Currently, Marian is in training with Dr. Lynn Turner, a PAIRS Master Teacher, and expert in Enneagrams, psycho-bonding, and group therapy. Marian has been in training with Dr. Lynn Turner for over five years. Marian brings a strong commitment to making a difference in the quality of life for everyone she touches.
Clyde Horton has a 30-year professional career in leadership and human resource, which includes personal and professional coaching. In addition, Clyde brings his training in group facilitation and psycho-bonding to the classroom as an adjunct diversity professor at American University.
Along with his wife Marian, Clyde has co-lead PAIRS (Practical Application of Intimate Relationship Skills) Mastery for the past five years. PAIRS teaches the skill of relating and the underlying dynamics for sustaining intimacy. Participants are taught communication skills, self-understanding, conflict resolution techniques and tools for enhancing intimacy. The Mastery course takes place in a group setting over a six-month period. Clyde is a certified Level I & II PAIRS instructor as well as a Level I PEERS (Practical Exercises Enriching Relationships) instructor.
Articulate and inspiring, he is committed to breaking down barriers that stop people from being loving and supportive partners. Passionate about this work, his enthusiasm and love of people are contagious. He understands that the key to creating loving relationships is in valuing yourself. Clyde has developed an understanding that investing and growing your “relationships” is the basis for a successful life.
