Eka Systems Recognized by County for Business Growth & Technology Achievements

Eka Systems, a global provider of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Smart Grid solutions for electric, gas and water utility companies, is currently expanding it’s presence in Germantown, with plans to add up to 40 new employees by the end of 2008.

One of the County’s successful, growing technology companies, Eka Systems was visited during Montgomery County’s recent Business Appreciation Week, held April 14-18, and will be featured in the County’s new “I am Montgomery” marketing and advertising campaign, which highlights leaders from the County’s vibrant and diverse business community across a variety of media platforms.

“Eka Systems is clearly one of Montgomery County’s shining stars, as witnessed by their phenomenal growth over the past several years. They have cutting-edge technology products that can serve businesses and consumers in the global utility space,” said Dr. Pradeep Ganguly, Director, Montgomery County Department of Economic Development. “It was our honor to meet with and recognize Eka Systems during Business Appreciation Week and we commend them on their steady growth and continued success.”

Eka Systems’ success has been spurred by Montgomery County, which recently awarded the company a grant from the County’s Economic Development Fund. The company also received a grant from the County’s Technology Growth Program in 2002. Award decisions for both funding programs were directly linked to the company’s projected future growth and job creation potential.

Businesses throughout the County can benefit from these and other strategic programs and services including the County’s Mentorship Program, workforce development and training assistance programs, Montgomery County Business Innovation Network, the County’s incubator program, and the new Microenterprise Program, which offers loans and targeted business assistance to County microenterprises.

“I am excited to receive this recognition from Montgomery County and want to acknowledge their ongoing support in helping Eka Systems grow and prosper here in the County,” said Prakash Chakravarthi, President & CEO of Eka Systems. “The County affords technology companies a broad IT talent pool to draw from and offers an array of highly educated and culturally diverse communities in which to grow our business, expand our staff, and increase the size of our corporate office.”

Since 2000, Eka Systems has been a pioneer in Smart Networks and Smart Grid™ solutions for utility companies. Eka Systems’ commitment to customers is evident with the continuing expansion of the EkaNet™ product line to enable AMI and Distribution Automation solution deployments. The utility industry is becoming a recognized leader in Smart Network applications with a clear need to connect millions of meters and devices.
