County Executive Ike Leggett congratulates the winners of the “Break the Barrier to Home Ownership” contest who shared $25,000 to help them purchase their first homes in Montgomery County. Joining Leggett were prizewinners (left to right) Verizon maintenance administrator Kimberly Walker of Silver Spring, cook Jose E. Valladares, son Gabriel, daughter Mayra, and food worker Nora A. Valladares, son Marvin, and County teachers Nicolle and Michael Joshua. Michael Joshua recently returned from one year’s service in Iraq. The $10,000 first prize, won by Walker, was sponsored by Freddie Mac. The two $7500 prizes were sponsored by Mercantile Potomac Bank, and Norman Dreyfuss of IDI Group Companies.
