Purpose
- The purpose of the program is to recognize efforts that enhance the quality of life in our community and to highlight community initiatives. This is not a competition.
- The “effort” being recognized should be visible in the community and shared by many. The recognition program will help facilitate the sharing of information about successful programs in the community.
- Examples of recipients: civic/homeowner associations, PTA’s, service clubs, businesses, and in exceptional cases, individuals.
Process
- Nominations can come from Board members or community members and must be received by the end of each month.
- The nomination form is available on the B-CC Regional Services Center website and can be submitted in hard copy or emailed to bethesda.citizen@montgomerycountymd.gov.
- Nominations are reviewed by the Quality of Life Committee and then a recommendation is made to the Board. The Board approves nominations.
- Recipients will be invited to attend a Board meeting and the certificate will be presented to them.
- Certificates can be given as often or as infrequently as necessary. A recipient of the recognition must wait three years before being nominated again for the same initiative.
- Local newspapers will be contacted regarding publicity for the presentations.
