Statement On Bethesda Homicide and Home Invasion Cases Solved by Police
In October 2008, Montgomery County Police announced the apprehension of the man charged with the murder of a Bethesda resident in her home and a series of home invasions in the community. Through some excellent detective work, good fortune, and errors made by the perpetrator he was arrested at his home in Hyattsville in Prince George’s County and charged in court. With DNA evidence as well as physical evidence from burglaries, the Police Chief and the States Attorney believe that there is a very strong case for conviction. I commend the hard-working members of our police department for their diligence and professionalism in the search for this individual.
The apprehension and fear in this community was palpable as demonstrated by the large turnout of citizens at several public meetings with the police department and other officials. I think we are all sleeping a little better at night knowing that this individual is now off the streets, but I urge all our residents to continue to be vigilant and watch out for each other.
