The Secretary of the Maryland Department of Transportation has certified to the Transportation Professional Services Selection Board the need to utilize the services of architects or engineers. PROJECT INFORMATION. Firms interested in being considered for work on any Project must submit an Expression of Interest for that Project as set forth herein. The Expression of Interest shall be in an envelope marked with the specified contract number for the Project. The letter portion of the Expression of Interest shall indicate the firm's desire to perform services and indicate the specific tasks or areas of expertise, which will be subcontracted, and to whom. Interested firms must submit the material required herein or the interested firm will not be considered for the Project. The Tri-County Council for the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland Workforce Division, in coordination with the MD Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, is soliciting request for proposals (RFP) for the Workforce ONE Maryland Program. Proposals will focus on innovative and creative workforce development projects targeting BRAC-impacted regions in Maryland. The RFP is available at http://www.lowershore.org/WORFP.PDF Proposals will be selected in three rounds, the first due March 21, 2008.

- Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind (CLB) --
Targeted for services: Frederick, Montgomery, Prince George’s Counties & Fort Belvoir, VA
- CLB will address the needs of returning warriors and veterans who are blind or visually impaired. These individuals are either receiving treatment and/or working at Fort Detrick, Fort Meade, National Naval Medical Center, Andrews Air Force Base, and Ft. Belvoir’s DeWitt. CLB and its partners will:
- Provide job training and support services to supplement what is already offered at these installations
- Supply job placement to those interested in leaving the military and/or will also assist military installations to became more visually accessible
- Monster.com’s Monster Government Solutions (MGS) -- Targeted for services: Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties & Southern MD
- Monster Government Solutions will create a targeted Community Portal website to address the needs and concerns of relocated military, civilian, and contractor spouses and family members. The website will provide a job and internship search and social networking capability to ease the relocation process to the “Region.”
BRAC Higher Education Investment Fund -- application deadline: November 6, 2008. As part of the O’Malley/Brown Administration’s efforts to fully prepare Maryland for the impact of BRAC, the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation contracted with the Maryland Higher Education Commission to perform a study of higher education institutions in Maryland, Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and Delaware to determine their preparedness and capacity to meet the demands of BRAC postsecondary education needs facing Maryland. The information obtained through the study will be the basis for planning to meet the higher education needs throughout the State due to BRAC.
