Women's History Quilt & Archives Project

  • The Montgomery County Commission for Women would like to acknowledge all the individuals and organizations that have contributed information for the creation of the Women's History Quilt and Archives Project.

  • Special thanks go the Commissioner Anne Sanderoff-Walker, a fiber artist, who designed and created the Quilt honoring the 30 women of historical significance to Montgomery County Maryland.

  • We are also thankful to Commissioner Gary Smith for his help on the Archives Webpage.

  • The Commission is grateful to the staff of the Montgomery County Historical Society Library, Montgomery County Archives, Peerless Rockville, Clara Barton National Historic Site, The Rachel Carson House National Historic Landmark, the Rachel Carson Council, and The Washington Adventist Hospital. Without their help, this project would not have been possible. We are also thankful to the Many Montgomery County historians whose suggestions, ideas and information have helped this project.

  • We extend our thanks to the staff of the many agencies and organizations association with the women portrayed in the Quilt and Archives. They graciously responded to many inquiries and requests.

  • The Commission is especially grateful for the pioneering work and the contributions of the 30 women depicted in the quilt. Their vision, dedication, perseverance, commitment and passion are an inspiration to us all.
