  1. Where is KIDS SPOT located?

    KIDS SPOT is located on the first floor of the Montgomery County Circuit Court Building, South Tower Rm 1440.

  2. How old can children be to attend KIDS SPOT?

    Children between the ages of 2 and 12 years of age are welcome at KIDS SPOT as long as their parent or guardian is conducting business in the Montgomery County Circuit Court Building.

  3. I will be attending jury duty. Can I drop my child off at KIDS SPOT?
  4. No, jurors cannot use KIDS SPOT as a child care facility.

  5. I work at Montgomery County Circuit Court. Can I drop off my child at KIDS SPOT?
  6. No, Montgomery County Circuit Court employees cannot use KIDS SPOT as a child care facility.

  7. I have a proceeding in DISTRICT Court across the street. Can I drop off my child at KIDS SPOT?
  8. No, parents must remain in the Montgomery County Circuit Court building while their child is in KIDS SPOT.

  9. What hours is KIDS SPOT open?

    The Center is open every day the Court is open, Monday-Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. However, the Center closes for lunch between 12:30 pm and 1:15 pm, so parents and guardians must make arrangements to pick up their children before 12:30 pm.  Children must be picked up by 5:00 pm even if court proceedings are still ongoing.

  10. What is the cost for attending KIDS SPOT?

    There are no fees charged for leaving your child at KIDS SPOT.

  11. What paperwork do I need to complete before I can drop off my child?

    You should arrive about 15 minutes before you have to leave your child at KIDS SPOT. You will fill out a Registration Form, review the Center’s guidelines with the staff, and stay with your child for a few minutes to make sure he/she is settled and comfortable at the Center. You must present valid ID at both check-in and check-out time.

  12. Who will be watching my child while he or she is at KIDS SPOT?

    The Center is staffed by two experienced caregivers from Family Services, Inc. who have been carefully screened, trained, and are qualified to work with a mixed age group of children.

  13. What safeguards are in place to ensure that children leave the Center with the correct parent?

    Before the parent or guardian drops the child off, KIDS SPOT staff will take a picture of both the child and his/her parent or guardian to be able to match the families when the child is picked up. Parents and guardians may also designate an Emergency Contact who will also be allowed to pick up the child. The Emergency Contact must bring a driver’s license or other government picture ID to verify his/her identity. Children will not be allowed to leave with anyone other than the person who dropped him or her off at the Center or with the Emergency Contact.

  14. What sorts of activities will the children have at the KIDS SPOT Center?

    The Center is stocked with games, books, toys, and arts & craft supplies. Staff also plan and organize activities for children of different ages throughout the day that they can join at any time.

  15. Are snacks provided to the children during their time at KIDS SPOT?

    Yes, KIDS SPOT staff offer nut-free snacks and water to all children attending the Center. Parents and guardians are also allowed to leave snacks with their children.  All baby bottles brought into the KIDS SPOT must be labeled with the child’s name and the time they should receive the bottle (the Center will provide the labels).

  16. Can KIDS SPOT staff administer medication?

    KIDS SPOT staff will ask the parent or guardian to administer any routine medication to his/her child before leaving the Center. Staff are trained in the administration of emergency medication (e.g., Epinephrine/EpiPen® and Inhalers) and will provide this to the child if necessary. Staff will notify the parent or guardian at the onset of any signs or symptoms of an allergic response or asthma episode.

  17. My child is sick and cannot go to day care/school, but I need to take care of business in the Circuit Court. Can I drop off my child at KIDS SPOT?

    No, unfortunately, children who appear ill will not be able to stay in KIDS SPOT.
