RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

April 13, 2005 

 

RAPE 

      -On 04-08-05, a 37-year-old female from Germantown reported that she had been raped on 04-06-05 at her residence in Germantown.  The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing.

            -On 04-07-05, an 18-year-old female from Kensington reported that she had been raped on 03-27-05 in a vehicle in the 10500 block of Connecticut Avenue in Kensington.   The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing. 

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 04-10-05, at 4:25 a.m., a 29-year-old Silver Spring man had just parked his vehicle in the 9100 block of Manchester Road in the Highland View area of Silver Spring.  The suspect approached his driver’s door, displayed a handgun and demanded his wallet.  The suspect took cash from wallet and returned wallet to victim at the victim’s request.   The suspect fled towards Sligo Creek Parkway.   The suspect is described as a black male, 20 to 25 years-old, 5’1-“, 150 to 160 lbs., with brown eyes, wearing blue jeans, and a light blue t-shirt.

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 04-09-05, at 1:35 a.m., a 51-year-old male from Gaithersburg was walking in the 18400 block of Lost Knife Circle in Gaithersburg when he observed four suspects (three males and one female).   The suspects approached the victim and demanded money.  After receiving the cash, suspect #1 struck the victim.  All four suspects were last seen running fro the scene.  Suspect’s #1, 2, and 3 are described as black males, 5’6” to 5’8”, medium build.  Two had short afros and one had a longer afro.  Suspect #4 is described a black female, 5’4” to 5’6”, heavy set, with long hair.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 

            -On 04-05-05, at 4:00 p.m., a loss prevention employee from Hecht’s at Lakeforest Mall, 701 Russell Avenue in Gaithersburg was attempting to arrest two suspects for theft.  Suspect #1 threatened to cut the victim and got into a vehicle driven by suspect #3.  The vehicle backed towards the victim and Suspect #2.  Suspect #2 entered the vehicle.  The suspects and vehicle were last seen leaving the parking lot towards Russell Ave.   The vehicle was described as a silver Mitsubishi Lancer, 4-door.

        Suspect #1 – black male, 40’s, 6’2”, 240 lbs., short black hair, beard and mustache, wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and a tan baseball hat.

        Suspect #2 – black female, 30’s, 5’7”, 170 lbs., wearing a colored bandana, gray long sleeve t-shirt and jeans.

        Suspect #3 – black female, late 30’s, with a black baseball hat.

            -On 04-10-05, 3:45 p.m., a 26-year-old male from Rockville was in the 8500 block of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring when he was struck on the back of his leg with a golf club by the suspect.   The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, late 20’s, 5’11”, 200 lbs., wearing a white “Doo Rag”, white shirt with a medium complexion.  The suspect left the scene in a Dodge van, blue in color with Maryland registration.   The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing.             

 

SEX ASSAULT 

            -On 04-05-05, a 32-year-old female from Gaithersburg reported that she had been sexually assaulted several times by a house mate in their residence since November of 2004.  The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing. 

            -On 04-11-05 at 2:15, a 20-year-old female from the Fairland area of Silver Spring was walking in the area of Old Columbia Pike and Stewart Lane when the suspect jumped from behind a bush.   The suspect knocked the victim to the ground, and sexually assaulted her.   The victim was able to escape.  The suspect is described as a black male, 6’3”, approximately 250 lbs., with short black hair.  He was wearing dark jeans, a short sleeved light blue shirt and round glasses.  The suspect was last seen on Old Columbia Pike towards the White Oak Towers. 

            -On 04-07-05, a 24-year-old female from College Park was sexually assaulted in the 4800 block of Auburn Avenue in Bethesda.  The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing. 

            -On 04-05-05, a 27-year-old male from Silver Spring was sexually assaulted at a Fitness Facility in Bethesda.  The suspect’s identity is known.  The investigation is continuing. 

            -On 04-09-05, a 25-year-old female from Gaithersburg reported that she had been sexually assaulted in an apartment in Gaithersburg.  The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing. 

 

BURGLARY ARREST 

            -On 04-09-05, Richard Nana Boafo, 26, and Bodum Owusu-Kusi, 20, both of Dumfries, Virginia were arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, 4th Degree Burglary, Malicious Destruction of Property over $500.00, and Theft over $500.00.  The arrest was the result of a burglary at a kiosk at Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg on the same day. 

            -On 04-06-05, Larry Dean Phillips, 31, of the 800 block of Gail Avenue in Rockville, was arrested and charged with 3rd Degree Burglary and Malicious Destruction of Property over $500.00.  The arrest was the result of an incident that occurred in the 1000 block of Lewis Avenue in Rockville on the same day.

COMMERCIAL 

            -GUARDIAN MORTGAGE, INC., 4915 Auburn Avenue in Bethesda, between 8:00 p.m. on 03-24-05 and 11:00 a.m. on 04-01-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -LIBERTY TAX SERVICE, 7101 Democracy Boulevard in Bethesda, between 7:00 p.m. on 03-31-05 and 6:00 p.m. on 04-01-05.  Possibly used key, property taken.

RESIDENTIAL 

            -7000 block of Exeter Road in Bethesda, between 8:00 a.m. on 04-04-05 and 7:00 p.m. on 04-06-05.  Forced entry, property taken from garage.

            - 4700 block of Drummond Avenue in Chevy Chase, between 5:40 p.m. and 6:10 p.m. on 04-06-05.  Entered open garage and removed property.

            -4700 block of Drummond Avenue in Chevy Chase, between 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on 04-07-05.   Entered unlocked garage and removed property.

            -7900 block of Curtis Street in Chevy Chase, between 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. on 04-08-05.   Entered open garage and removed property.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -3700 block of East West Highway in Bethesda, between 7:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. on 04-08-05.  Entered unlocked garage door, property taken.

 

3rd DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL 

            -HORENBERG INSURANCE SERVICES, 10770 Columbia Pike in White Oak area of Silver Spring, between 11:00 p.m. on 04-08-05 and 8:30  a.m. on 04-09-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -MIRIAM GROCERY, 8613 Cameron Street in Silver Spring, between 11:00 p.m. on 04-08-105 and 5:14 a.m. on 04-09-05.  Forced entry, property taken. 

RESIDENTIAL 

            -9800 block of Darcey Forest Drive in the Forest Glen area of Silver Spring at 8:45 p.m. on 04-10-05.  Attempted Forced entry, attempt only.

            -14900 block of McKnew Road in Burtonsville, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:24 p.m. on 04-06-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -600 block of Sonata Way in the White Oak area of Silver Spring, between 5:00 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. on 04-08-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -3500 block of Spencerville Road in Burtonsville at 3:00 a.m. on 04-08-05.  Forced entry into shed, property taken.

            -3000 block of Shepperton Terrace in the Briggs Chaney area of Silver Spring on 04-10-00at 12:10 a.m.  Entered unlocked door, property taken.

 

4th DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL 

            -3600 Pear Tree Court in the Bel Pre area of Silver Spring, between6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on 03-31-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

 

6th DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL 

            -GORDON’S JEWELERS, 701 Russell Avenue, Suite 229 Gaithersburg, between 8:52 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on 04-10-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -WATKINS MILL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, 19001 Watkins Mill Road in Montgomery Village, between 10:00 p.m. on 04-07-05 and 9:00 a.m. on 04-08-05.  Forced entry, nothing taken.

            -DMB INC., 901 Wind River Lane in Gaithersburg, between 9:00 p.m. on 04-06-05 and 7:00 a.m. on 04-07-05.  Forced entry, property taken. 

RESIDENTIAL 

            -10200 block of Ridgeline Drive in Montgomery Village between 10:30 p.m. on 04-07-05 and 1:10 a.m. on 04-08-05.  Forced entry, property taken. 

            -9300 block of Pennywise Lane in Gaithersburg, between 1:00 p.m. on 04-08-05 and 10:30 p.m. on 04-09-05.  Forced entry, property taken.
