Medal Of Valor (click to view list of awarded officers)
(Red, White, and Blue Bar)
The Medal of Valor is the Department's highest award and is awarded for heroism and distinction in extremely hazardous circumstances. In order to be considered an employee must exhibit unusual bravery in the performance of duty while facing the threat of death of serious injury.

Life Saving Award (click to view list of awarded officers)
(Red and White Bar)
The Life Saving Award will be given to an employee who makes a major contribution toward saving the life of another by providing essential medical treatment prior to arrival of EMS personnel.

Commendation (click to view list of awarded officers)
(Blue and White Bar)
A Commendation will be awarded to the employee who makes a significant contribution to the mission of the department beyond the ordinary call of duty. It shall recognize those incidents wherein the member's courage, resourcefulness, tenacity, and/or perseverance in the performance of the employee's duties has resulted in the protection of life or property, the prevention of a major crime or the apprehension of an armed and dangerous criminal.

Chief's Award (click to view list of awarded officers)
(Blue and Red Bar)
The Chief's Award will be awarded quarterly by the Chief of Police to employees who exemplify the highest standards of service to the community by virtue of their diligence, dedication, and character. This award may also be granted to employees who develop new, innovative programs, which clearly enhance the mission of the department of improve the quality of life for the citizens of Montgomery County.

Community Service Award

The Community Service Recognition Award will be given to the employee who makes a significant contribution, above and beyond the ordinary call of duty, to the community service component of the department's mission. The award is to recognize those instances, over a period of time, where the employee's diligence, teamwork, and/of perseverance exemplified the highest standards of service to the community as a whole.

Unit Citation (click to view list of awarded officers)
A Unit Citation will be awarded to all members of a unit which has, through a combination of teamwork, diligence, and perseverance, performed in an exemplary manner.
