Recycling Center

The Recycling Center sits on approximately nine acres of land on Route 355, just south of Shady Grove Road. The facility is near the County's Solid Waste Transfer Station.

Residents may bring recyclable items to the Public Unloading Area at the Shady Grove Transfer Station. Materials are not accepted directly at the Recycling Center building.

The facility’s safety record— with a total of about 20 hours lost work time due to injuries over the last five years— and revenue generation that exceeds operating costs are among the features that contribute to its efficiency.

Since its inception in 1991, more than 125,000 school children have toured the Recycling Center and received a first-hand look at how recyclables are processed and learned about the benefits of recycling.

More than numbers, however, it is the spirit of service and constant improvement at the Recycling Center that make the facility such an important part of the community.
