MULTIFAMILY HOUSING PRODUCTION AND COMPLIANCE |
This section provides information for Developers and for Property Managers on Montgomery County's multifamily housing development and rehabilitation programs. The county utilizes two main funding sources for multifamily projects including county Housing Initiative Funds (HIF) and federal HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) funds.
For Developers:
Please contact Lawrence Cager if you need additional information. We look forward to working with you if you decide to pursue an affordable housing development in Montgomery County.
For Property Managers:
Federal and county regulations can be tough to understand and interpret. We have designed several tools to make complying with these regulations easy for you. Below you will find links to PowerPoint presentations, manuals, CheatSheets, and full regulations. This way there will be no surprises during annual reviews.
A note on tenant certification/annual recertification: Many of the county's multifamily projects contain several layers of financing. Sources like the state's Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Program and various rental subsidy programs mandate annual tenant certification, the purpose being to assure that assisted units are occupied only by eligible households. This can become a burdensome, paper-filled task for managers. In order to streamline the process, the county allows property managers to use many of the certification forms from other programs. Contact the county to see if your certification forms are eligible.
