Reporting Missed Collections

The information on this page applies only to recycling and trash collections provided by Montgomery County. If your collection contract is directly between you and a hauling company, or is arranged by your homeowners' association or municipality, please contact the company, association, or municipality directly.

 Who provides your collection service?

County-provided recycling collections for blue bin recyclables, yard trimmings, and mixed paper are made by different trucks.  These trucks typically have different schedules.  For example, even though your blue bin was emptied at 7:15 a.m., the yard trimmings truck may not arrive until 2:00 p.m., possibly giving the appearance throughout the morning that the leaves and grass were left behind.

The recycling and trash trucks may make collections until 9:00 p.m.  Call 240-777-6410 after 9:00 p.m. or the next morning to report a missed collection.   Leave a message on the recorder if you call after business hours.  Missed collections must be reported within 48 hours of the incident. In the meantime, do not remove your items from the curb.

Email is a great communication tool, but for missed collection issues, we are best able to address your situation after a brief telephone conversation with you to make sure that we have all of the address information and other details we might need to respond as quickly as possible.
