Employer Recognition

Transportation Awards Ceremony

The Montgomery County Executive hosts an annual Transportation Awards Ceremony breakfast each spring in conjunction with National Transportation Week. The event honors businesses and individuals whose outstanding promotions and use of commuting options – other than driving to work alone – contribute to this region’s economic and environmental well being. The County Executive presents each recipient with an engraved award. A major employer or top official, such as the Governor of Maryland or one of our U.S. senators, have been keynote speakers in the past. The media is invited, and this event has generated television and front-page news coverage for its honorees.

Commuter Connections Employer Recognition Awards

The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments sponsors its annual Commuter Connections Employer Recognition Awards program, for which Montgomery County employers are eligible to apply. CSS will help with the application. The ceremony is held in June. Award categories are:

  • Marketing – Promoting alternative commute options, so that fewer employees drive to work alone
  • Incentives – Encouraging your employees to bicycle, walk, carpool, vanpool, or take public transportation
  • Telework opportunities for your employees
