The mission of the Honor Guard is to represent the Division of Fire and Rescue Services as a highly disciplined team serving with honor at ceremonial functions, respect and dignity at funeral services for our fire and rescue service family, and provide comfort and compassion for the survivors; this will be accomplished through drilling in military etiquette and attention to detail.

Honor guards have long since played a large part in the steep traditions of the Fire Service, and the Honor Guard Team of Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service is no exception. From the humble beginnings in the 1980’s, the team that exists today has emerged to become the example for many fire departments across the United States. On several occasions, the team’s presence has been requested to perform at various locations around the region.

Honor, distinction, and pride are adjectives most used when describing this unit. The team members themselves maintain high standards of attention to detail, pride, and precision; therefore, any incoming member can expect to do the same. To earn a position on this team requires the individual to possess a great deal of commitment and pride to excellence. Whether performing locally or on a national level, the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service Honor Guard have always exemplified our motto:

“Desire, Determination, Dedication”
