| The MCFRS Safety
Chief is Assistant Chief Michael Nelson. This is a senior
lead supervisory position that reports directly to the Division
Chief and the Fire Chief on matters that involve the safety,
health and welfare of all MCFRS personnel. The MCFRS Safety
Chief is responsible for:
- Coordination and maintenance of the Division's personnel
injury data base
- Development of Safety Bulletins on a variety of timely
issues
- Preparation of reports on personnel injuries incurred
in the line of duty
- Preparation of "lessons learned" materials
for review by all personnel concerning injuries, "near
misses" and apparatus collisions
- Preparation of recommendations for corrective actions
based on the review of MCFRS collisions and trend analysis
of driver behaviors
- MOSH Compliance Officer
- Management of the MCFRS Safe Driver Incentive Program
- Supervision of the MCFRS Collision Incident Review Committee
(CIRC)
- Management and oversight of the Respiratory Protection
Program (SCBA)
- Management of the Respiratory Protection annual Re-certification
Program
- Oversight of Safety Focus Groups
- Manager of Loss Control Programs
- MCFRS Vehicle Insurance Liaison
