Mental Health Advisory Committee
The State of Maryland mandates that each county shall establish a mental health advisory committee. The purpose of the committee is to serve as a strong advocate for a comprehensive mental health system for consumers of all ages. The committee is responsible for advising the County Council, County Executive and DHHS on behavioral health related issues. The 19 voting members are appointed by the County Executive, to serve two-year terms, not to exceed four consecutive years. The voting members must include four mental health consumers, three parents of adult mental health consumers, three parents of children involved with mental health services, a member of the general public, a practicing physician, a clergy, and representatives from the public schools, Office on Aging, Juvenile Justice, and the local mental health association. In addition to the voting members, there are the following five nonvoting, ex-officio members: a representative from Springfield Hospital, the CSA director, the recording secretary, DHHS committee staff liaison, a representative from the Crisis Center to provide input regarding crisis mental health services and interface with police, and the MHA regional office representative. Victims Services Advisory Board
The Victim Services Advisory Board 's mission is to support Montgomery County's commitment to serving all victims of crime, including rape, domestic violence, sexual assault, homicide survivors, adults molested as children, terrorism, hate violence, robbery, driving while intoxicated (DWI) and vehicular manslaughter, assault, battery, burglary, arson, larceny, stalking, carjacking, purse snatching, harassment and vandalism. The Board periodically reviews available services and facilities for victims and their families; determine needs of the victim and family services/programs; reports to the County Executive and County Council on the progress of programs to victims and their families and of actions needed to improve those programs; makes recommendations for appropriate allocation of funds in accordance with agreed upon priorities and consideration of financial resources. The Board also assists the Director of the Department of Health and Human Services in the development of the annual Victim Services and Families plan and acts as a local advocate for victim services programming. Its 18 members are drawn from the community and serve 3 year terms. Meetings are held monthly.

Alcohol and Other Drug Advisory Council (AODAAC)
The goal of the AODAAC Council is to express the view of the community in the formulation and administration of alcohol and other drug abuse prevention and treatment services in Montgomery County. Members of the Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Advisory Council serves as community representatives, who provide guidance to the County Executive and the County Council in identifying prevention and treatment needs and reviewing the County's efforts in addressing those needs. The Council makes recommendations in support of, or to improve, current prevention and treatment efforts. The Council consists of 16 voting members and 12 non-voting members, appointed by the County Executive, subject to confirmation by the County Council. Meetings are held monthly.
