Troubleshooting Tips — Remote Access to Online Resources

  • A Montgomery County library card is required to use online resources from home. Enter your 14 digit library card number without any spaces. A PIN is not required.

  • The latest web browsers, such as Internet Explorer or Netscape, are recommended.
  • Some features may not be available with older browsers.

  • Cookies and Javascript must be enabled in your web browser settings.

  • Security settings in your web browser should be set no higher than Medium.

  • Firewall and filtering software can create connectivity issues. Some adjustments in your settings might be necessary. Many of our online resources, including Tell Me More, NetLibrary, HeritageQuest, and Reference USA, require that referring URL's be accepted by the firewall. These resources use referring url technology to authenticate library users. If you have a firewall, such as Norton, or other security software on your machine, it may block this information from being sent to the online resource provider's website, and the online resource provider is unable to tell that you are a valid user.

If you have Norton software, please visit this page to find out more:

Passing Referrer Information to specific web pages in Norton Internet Security and Norton Personal Firewall

  • Clear your Temporary Internet Files or cache.

If you are still unable to connect to one of the online resources, please use this form to report technical problems.
