2011 National Night Out (NNO)

Hello from the Community Services Office of the Montgomery County Police in the 2nd District!  We wanted to let you know about the upcoming National Night Out (NNO) event scheduled for August 2, 2011.

National Night Out is a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW). NNO is designed to:

1.     Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;

2.     Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs;

3.     Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police -community partnership; and

4.     Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Neighborhoods across the country celebrate NNO with a variety of events and activities such as block parties, cookouts, visits from local police, parades, flashlight walks, contests, and youth programs.

You can get more information about past NNO events and this year's event at www.nationaltownwatch.org/nno , or call 1-800-NITEOUT or 610-649-7055.  You can register by phone or fill out the form online for the NATW.  If you are already registered with NATW for this year's event, fill out the attached form so we know what you're planning and how we can contact you to coordinate a police visit at your event.

National Night Out has been going strong for many years.  Each year more and more communities join in to fight back.  This could be your year.  If you have any further questions, contact Officer Dana Stroman at 301-652-9200or e-mail: Dana.Stroman@montgomerycountymd.gov.
