Lifeguards/Pools:There are openings for part-time temporary workers at indoor pools for lifeguards, instructors, cashiers, and swim coaches. Retraining available. For more information, contact a facility supervisor at the indoor pool nearest you, or call the Aquatics office at 240-777-6860.

Youth Sports Coaches: Volunteer coaches needed for baseball, T-ball and softball. The National Youth Sports Coaches’ Association certified training will prepare you and can be conducted online. Must be at least age 16. Call Corky McCorkle at 240-777-6961.

Youth Sports Game Officials: MCRD is seeking game officials for youth sports leagues, including baseball and softball programs for grades 2-9. Training is available. Call 240-777-6961.

Softball Umpires Need: Maryland State Umpires Association seeks game officials for the 2007 softball seasons. Solid understanding of the basic rules of baseball and/or softball suggested. For more information, contact Adrian Burns at 301/445-5263 or Dick Shinnick at 301/946-6612.

Tax Preparation Help for County Seniors
Free income tax preparation is offered to middle- and low-income County seniors 55 and above. Service available each Monday through April 16. Appointment required.


Feb. 13-March 13: Youth Art Exhibit and Photo Exhibit, MCRD, 4010 Randolph Rd., Silver Spring, weekdays 9 a.m.-5 p.m. p.m. Free. No weekend hours.

Feb. 14: Seniors Valentine’s Day Soiree, Holiday Park Senior Center, 1:15 p.m., sing, tap and snap to pianist Dale Jarrett.

Feb. 20 and Feb. 22: Weightroom Orientation, Fairland Community Center, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Free. Limited 10. Pre-register by calling 240-777-4970 or dropping by center.

Feb. 20: Adult soccer registration opens, through March 16.

Feb. 27: Half-day event at Olney Manor Regional Park pool for Rosa Parks, Farquhar, Redland, Shady Grove, Banneker, Forest Oak and Argyle middle school students only. Fee: $4.
