Silver Spring
Recreation Advisory Board (SSRAB)

The SSRAB advises the County Executive, County Council, the Department of Recreation, and the Planning Board on regional recreation and park needs. It encourages the development of desirable parks and recreational opportunities, and advises and makes recommendations to appropriate officials on matters concerning budgets, recreation programs, services, and facilities in the Silver Spring Region.

The Board is composed of up to nine regular members and two alternates. Alternates serve in place of an absent member and assume a regular member's position if there is a resignation. Members must reside in the Silver Spring Region of Montgomery County. The boundaries include: 495 south of the beltway (exception: all Four Corners neighborhoods north of the beltway are included); Rock Creek Park to the west; the District of Columbia line to the south; and the Prince George's County line to the east.

Members serve three-year terms without compensation. Meetings are held the second Wednesday evening of each month in Silver Spring.
