Up-County Regional Recreation Advisory Board

This Board advises the County Executive, County Council, and the Department of Recreation, and the Planning Board on regional recreation and park needs. The Board encourages the development of desirable parks and recreational opportunities, and advises and makes recommendations to appropriate officials on matters concerning budgets, recreation programs, services, and facilities.

The Board is composed of nine regular members and two alternates. Alternates serve in place of an absent member and assume a regular member's position if there is a resignation. Members must reside in the Upcounty region of Montgomery County. This area includes the neighborhoods of Germantown, Barnesville, Laytonsville, Poolesville, Clarksburg, Damascus and North Potomac. The service area comprises approximately ½ of Montgomery County and is bordered on the north by Frederick County, on the west by the Potomac river, on the east by Route 124 and on the south by the Gaithersburg and Potomac.

Members serve three years terms without compensation. Meetings are held the third Wednesday evening of the month in Germantown.
