The East County Regional Services Center links Montgomery County Services with 111,250 citizens and businesses in a 47.5 square mile area that includes Burtonsville, Colesville, Cloverly, Fairland, and White Oak communities

UPCOMING EVENTS
Free Legal Consultations for low income residents -The Eastern Montgomery Regional Services Center and the Montgomery County Bar Foundation Pro Bono Program will continue to offer free legal consultations for low income residents in the community effective November 13th. The clinics will be held on the first and second Thursday evening of each month from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Eastern Montgomery Regional Services Center located at 3300 Briggs Chaney Road in Silver Spring.
Residents can get legal advice on issues including child custody and support, debt management and immigration. Clients will need to fill out a client intake form before the consultation. Manna’s Winter Food Drive - EMRSC and the County’s Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Community Affairs is seeking our community’s help to increase food staples through holding a food drive. Manna’s most needed foods include: Peanut Butter, Rice, Tuna Fish (Canned), Dried Beans, Canned Fruit and Vegetables, Tomato Sauce, Baby Formula/Baby Food, Pasta, Shelf-Stable Milk, Macaroni and Cheese, Cereal and Oatmeal, Canned Soup. Manna’s Smart Sacks backpack program, with food sent home to children, needs the above foods in small servings as well as: Small Fruit Cans/Cups, 100% Juice Boxes, Crackers; Pudding; Healthy Cereal Bars; Individual Raisins/Dried Fruit; Pouches of “instant” Potatoes or Rice and, other nutritious kid-friendly food. The Collection Box is located at Eastern Montgomery Regional Services Center, 3300 Briggs Chaney Road, Silver Spring, Maryland 20904.
November 22nd and November 29th AARP Driver Safety Class : The AARP Driver Safety class is an 8-hour course that can help you learn not only the effects of aging on driving but also how you can adjust your driving. Auto insurance companies in most states provide a multiyear discount to AARP graduates. East County Winter Fest Yard Sale (Indoor) (No prior registrations. First come, First serve) -December 6, 2008. Registration begins 8:00 am to 10:00 am. Sale begins 10:00 am– 3:00 pm. Free ESOL Classes: The Eastern Montgomery Regional Services Center has openings in their evening ESOL classes (English for Speakers of Other Languages) for adults. The classes are open to all wishing to learn English. Classes are for beginner and intermediate/advanced levels and are provided by the Chinese Culture and Community Center. They are held on Tuesday evenings from 6-8:30 p.m. and run for 20 consecutive weeks. All classes are offered free of charge, however, a $10 refundable deposit and $20 book fee are required. Montgomery County Police encourage residents to communicate/ Join County Gang Prevention Task Force
The Montgomery County Police Department has a Gang Tip Hotline available to report gang activity in Montgomery County. Call the Gang Tip Hotline at 240-773-GANG (240-773-4264), 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to leave an anonymous tip. We welcome the community’s continued interest in this issue. Neighborhood Beautification Grants Available: Applications Will Be Reviewed This Fall - Keep Montgomery County Beautiful (KMCB) is reviewing grant applications to fund beautification projects that help improve the appearance of communities throughout Montgomery County.
