Montgomery County is home to over 135,000 Latino residents, which is over 14% of the County's population. The diversity within the Latino community is tremendous and demonstrates the diversity of all communities within the county. Salvadorans make up the largest proportion of Latinos. Mexicans, Guatemalans, Peruvians, and Puerto Ricans are also well represented in the County. Honduras is the country with the fastest growing Latino population in the County, followed by Guatemala according to the 2006-2008 American Community Survey.
The County Executive has a Latin American Advisory Group to advise him and to tackle issues of concern. This advisory group works to address barriers to the Latin American community including Latino leadership, safety and justice, health and human services, economic development, education, Latino youth and a range of other issues identified from the Leadership Summit in October 2007.
