Description

EMTOC is a collection of 13 buildings that serve multiple departments including the Department of Transportation and the Department of General Services. The former EMTOC, formerly located in the County Service Park, had outdated facilities and the site presented limited opportunity to expand operations to meet the County’s growing needs. The opportunity to move County facilities to a more suitable location also allowed the new EMTOC to be built more sustainably.

EMTOC serves the Department of Transportation’s Divisions of Transit Services and Highway Services, the Department of General Services and provides a Day Labor Center. The facilities include administrative buildings; bus parking for 200 buses; bus service lanes; bus wash facility; fare collection area; bus service maintenance bays; parts room; heavy equipment storage shed; soil/gravel storage area; Highway Services bays; and compressed natural gas fast-fill, gasoline and diesel fueling stations.

EMTOC has received numerous awards including a NACO award for transportation projects, a NACO award for rainwater harnessing and reuse technology, and an Engineering News Record 2014 Best Project award. The project is also LEED GOLD certified.
