Countywide Stream Protection Strategy
Prepared by Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection
In cooperation with Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission
Through this website, information can be accessed about the condition of local streams, and the land use characteristics of the watersheds that drain to these streams. Use the map below or go directly to maps to access data about stream biological conditions, existing land use and projected development in each County watershed.
For more detailed discussion, start with the Methodology section which provides background on the County's watershed management and protection programs and basic watershed management concepts. Follow with subsequent chapters that identify the priority watersheds that the County is focusing on. Then go to the Watershed Assessments section to learn more about each watershed and what management strategy is being pursued to protect and restore streams.
The CSPS will be updated periodically to incorporate new data and reflect progress. Information in this version is based on monitoring data collected through the summer of 1997. |
