Climate Change Science

 

Energy Information Administration (EIA)

This on-line brochure provides an overview of the carbon cycle and identifies the leading causes of greenhouse gas generation.

 

US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA)

A comprehensive web site offering sequential information on the science of climate change, potential health and environmental impacts resulting from rapid climate change, and tips for what you can do to decrease your impact.

 

National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL)

In addition to FAQs about climate change, NETL provides information new and renewable techonolgies being developed to improve the national energy generation and storage.

 

 

Local Resources and Programs

 

Maryland Energy Administration (MEA)

The Energy Administration finalized a set of recommended voluntary actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the State. This report summarizes and quantifies the State's efforts to reduce emissions.

 

Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN)

This local organization organizes and advocates for legislative changes to mitigate climate change.  This site also provides ideas for how consumers and business can get involved in their own backyard.

 

 

National Resources and Programs

 

National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

The Climate Program Office (CPO), created in October 2005, provides a focal point for education and information on NOAA's climate activities.

 

International Resources and Programs

 

United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP)

The Climate Change program within the United Nations provides a forum for nations to share information and resources to meet the socio and economic challenges of global climate change.   

 

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was established by the United Nations to assess scientific, technical and socio-economic information necessary to understand climate change.

  

 

Climate Change for Kids

 

Learning about climate change can be fun!  These web sites provide facts, games, and classroom activities for all ages.
