Open Burning: A Regulatory Factsheet
Open burning creates air pollution that can directly affect the health and well being of people who live or work near open burning sites. Air pollution from open burning can cause property damage to nearby residential and commercial property. In addition to smoke and odors, open burning contributes carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides that contribute to the formation of ground-level ozone (smog).  See also below:


Illegal Dumping

Illegal Dumping of Solid Waste
Illegal dumping is a serious problem in Montgomery County.  Each year, the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) investigates more than 450 incidents of illegal dumping and spends more than $100,000 for clean-up and enforcement.

Pond Safety

Requirements for Signs and Fences
Montgomery County Code (Section 36-3) requires that a person who owns or controls land that includes a publically accessible pond must post warning signs around the pond and at any major approach to the pond, such as a path.  It is the purpose of this regulation to establish standards for warning signs, including the size, message, construction, placement and maintenance.

Only the facts concerning one event of an alleged violation of the Montgomery County Noise Ordinance are to be provided on a single form.
