The Maryland Department of Agriculture sprayed approximately 320 acres within the county on May 13, 2009. Areas to be sprayed are determined by field surveys conducted in the fall to identify areas that the gypsy moth population is high enough to damage the trees The Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) website posted a map of the spray block areas in Montgomery County here.
If you have questions about the spraying check out the MDA website or call 410-841-5922 for more information.

The Life Cycle of the Gypsy Moth In the fall and winter keep a look out for gypsy moth egg masses in crevices of tree trunks, fencing, woodpiles, etc. Remove egg masses by scraping them into a zip-top plastic bag with some water and detergent to kill the eggs, then put the bag in the trash. Take care when contacting egg masses as the hairs on the mass can cause topical allergic reactions.
