Award Winners of the 2008 Keep Montgomery County Beautiful
Beautification & Amateur Photography Contests

The 22nd Annual Keep Montgomery County Beautiful (KMCB) Community Beautification Awards were presented at a special ceremony in Rockville to winners in various categories.
Amateur photographers were also honored at the ceremony for our 17th Annual Amateur Photography Contest.

Department of Transportation (MCDOT) Director Art Holmes, Jr., County Executive Isiah Leggett, KMCB volunteer Carol Carter, and MCDOT Community Relations Manager Thomas Pogue presented the awards.

Sponsored by MCDOT and the KMCB Task Force, the beautification contest is open to community groups, businesses, public institutions and other organizations undertaking landscaping projects that enhance the appearance of non-residential properties. Level I prizes go to new projects initiated between fall 2007 - summer 2008, while Level II prizes are awarded to established projects planted prior to fall 2007.

The photo contest is open to individual residents who capture the beauty of landmarks, people and places within Montgomery County. Twenty years ago, concerned volunteers formed the KMCB Task Force to work with the County to develop beautification projects, anti-litter and recycling programs and to educate and change citizen attitudes about littering and graffiti.

Information about participation in Keep Montgomery County Beautiful programs is available by emailing the program office or calling (240) 777-7155.
