State Transportation Planning & Policy Coordination
The Maryland Transportation Plan and the annual State Consolidated Transportation Program (CTP) are monitored by Director's Office staff. State projects are tracked as they progress through the Development & Evaluation, System Preservation, and Construction/Implementation processes. Responsibilities include coordinating DOT reviews of State work, particularly State Highway Administration (SHA) projects, in the project planning and project design phases; also in a continuing role in providing input for any reviews necessitated during the construction stage.
The policy element of the State Transportation Program Coordination work includes the review of most State legislation which would impact the transportation arena in Montgomery County. Finally, monitoring of State efforts on transportation facility noise mitigation and highway/railroad crossing issues are also coordinated by Director's Office staff.
These activities involve staff attendance at numerous technical status meetings and public information sessions. Additionally, coordination with State, other Montgomery County Executive Branch agencies, Montgomery County Council staff, and the Montgomery County Planning Board is maintained to ensure consistency of State Transportation plans, programs, and projects with Montgomery County's Master Plans and the general interests of Montgomery County and its citizens.
You can visit the Maryland State Highway Administration web site to view current projects.
