Financial Information

In the last ten fiscal years (2000-2009), Liquor Control has contributed over $207,770,000 to the General Fund in Montgomery County. Please see annual report (link at right) for more in-depth financial information.

Montgomery County's method of controlled distribution results in the ability to effectively support public policy goals of moderation as well as provide revenue enhancement.

Each year, after paying all its own expenses and retaining a small amount of working capital, the Department of Liquor Control deposits its profits into Montgomery County's General Fund to pay for important citizen services such as firefighters, police and teachers - services that otherwise would be funded through taxpayer dollars. (These are examples only. Liquor Control's contribution to the General Fund is not specifically dedicated to the support of any agency or program.)
