Bike To Work Day is Friday, May 20, 2016!

The big day is nearly here. Show your support for bicycle commuting all over Montgomery County and the Washington metro area at Bike to Work Day, Friday, May 20th.

Bike To Work Day is a great day to try commuting to work if you’re a first time rider by tagging along with friends and coworkers or by joining other riders in your area in a Commuter Convoy. There are 15 pit stops located in Montgomery County alone and  67 pit stops throughout the rest of DC, Maryland and Virginia. Each pit stop will have free food, beverages and giveaways.

Register for a pit stop near your home, office or transit mode to receive a free t-shirt, get some great giveaways and be entered into a region wide bike raffle. T-shirts are limited to the first 15,000 registrants, so sign up today at http://www.biketoworkmetrodc.org/.

Good News for Montgomery County Employers and Commuters in the New Year!

Good news for commuters who use public transportation or vanpool. Starting January 1, the federal transit benefit for public transportation will nearly double to $255 per month.

Now transit riders and vanpoolers will have the same tax benefits as those who drive and park.

The increase, approved by Congress last month and signed by President Obama, permanently raised the pre-tax and tax-free commuter benefit making it more affordable to use public transportation. These benefits apply to those commuters who take MTA Commuter Bus, Metro bus, Metro rail, Ride On and vanpools.

To learn more about setting up a transit benefits program and Maryland's Commuter Choice Tax Credit, contact Commuter Services by phone, 240-777-8380, or by email, mcdot.commuterservices@montgomerycountymd.gov.
