Spring-Colesville Garage (Garage 21) Temporary Closure
-
On or about January 1, 2010 Garage 21 in Silver Spring will be temporally closed for approximately 24 months. The garage has experienced deterioration and requires restoration and upgrading. The newly restored garage will include: new floor slabs, elevators, stairs, electrical, plumbing and new brick exterior. Click here for more information. Alternative parking will be available at the Spring-Cameron Garage (Garage 2) and Town Square Garage (Garage 61). Follow the Parking Detour Signs for additional parking. Customer Service Survey

Montgomery County's Department of Transportation, Division of Parking Management has enlisted the services of Desman Associates to conduct a Parking Customer Service Survey within the Silver Spring, Bethesda, Wheaton and Montgomery Hills (PLD’s). The surveys are preformed to gauge the current performance of the public parking system from customers’ perspective.

Beginning the week of October 16th for approximately three weeks, representatives from Desman Associates will be surveying pedestrians in front of County parking structures, in and around County surface lots, and on curbside areas. In an effect to capture the perspective of retail and restaurant business owners, Desman Associates staff will also be surveying street level shops and restaurants. The information you provide is very important in our attempt to better serve you. We want to stress that all information collected will remain completely confidential and be used for statistical purposes only.
Silver Spring Demand Study

Montgomery County's Department of Transportation, Division of Parking Management has enlisted the services of Desman Associates to conduct a Parking Study within the Silver Spring (PLD). This study is being done to facilitate short and long range planning for parking demand in the Silver Spring PLD. Beginning the week of October 16th for approximately three weeks, representatives from Desman Associates will be will be visiting all the public and private parking systems (garages, on-street spaces, and surface lots) to take inventory and occupancy counts of the spaces.
New Parking Rates for Bethesda and North Bethesda

Effective July 1, 2009 parking rates will increase:
Parking Lot 31A Temporary Closure (Nov 1, 2009 - Dec 31, 2009)

Beginning on or about November 1, 2009, Lot 31A (Corner of Woodmont Ave & Bethesda Ave) will be temporally closed for approximately 60 days. The temporary closure is required to facilitate the relocation of utilities necessitated by the public/private re-development of the entire Lot 31 area. Lot 31A will reopen to the public on or about December 31, 2009. The closure of Lot 31A and Lot 31 for the construction of the new underground parking garage is not scheduled until the fall of 2010. Garage 7 (Cameron-Second Garage) Effective March 1, 2007 the Cameron-Second Garage will be converted from a Cashier Pay System to an automated Pay-by-Space System. This new system is a Self-Service parking system that allows you the convenience to pay for the use of a public parking space using bills and/or coins. Garage 5/55 (Bonifant-Dixon Garage in Silver Spring) The Bonifant/Dixon Garage is made up of two buildings connected by a bridge over Bonifant Street. The Bonifant Street entrance to the northern building will be closed on/or about September 15th 2008. The northern building can be accessed using the Dixon Avenue entrance. Please follow detours signs when exiting this section of the garage. This closure is expected to last until 2010.

Garage 35 (Woodmont-Rugby Garage in Bethesda) The Woodmont/Rugby Garage will undergo partial deck replacement. Construction will commence on or about July 14, 2008. The project work will take approximately 365 days and will be done in 7 phases. Each phase will close approximately 100 parking spaces. During construction the remainder of the garage (not under construction) will remain open and functional. Parkers are advised to park in Garage 36, located between Delray Avenue and Auburn Avenue.

Garage 57 (Bethesda-Elm Garage in Bethesda) The Bethesda/Elm Garage will undergo elevator modernization. The renovation will commence in July 2008 and will take approximately 365 days to complete. During the renovation, some elevators will be temporarly closed. Only one elevator will be closed at a time, other elevators will remain open and functional.
- Overtime Parking

It is illegal to park longer than the hours stated on the parking meter and, inserting additional coins after the time has elasped does not extend the allowable time a vehicle may remain parked n the same space.

The fine for overtime parking is $40.

Long Term parking is available at public parking lots and garages.
