About the Center

THE EASTERN MONTGOMERY REGIONAL SERVICES CENTER is one of five Regional Services Centers (Bethesda-Chevy Chase, Eastern Montgomery County, Mid-County, Silver Spring, and Upcounty) strategically located in various regions of the County to bring County government closer to its residents.

The Center functions as a link to the County Executive's Office. It offers problem-solving assistance to neighborhoods, individuals, businesses, and County agencies. It also coordinates direct service delivery, focusing on the particular needs of each region; and works with a regional Citizens Advisory Board appointed by the County Executive and approved by the County Council.

This is a new facility which also houses the People's Community Wellness Center and Mobile Med.

Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission

Did You Know? The Planning Department has reorganized

In winter 2010, the Planning Department reorganized to improve the Department¡¯s ability to respond to the needs of the community. The Department now operates in multi-disciplinary geographic teams with regulatory as well as community planning functions. This results in better integration and flexibility and leads to faster and more balanced decision-making. The Department's new divisions include:

The team structure provides a unified point of contact and detailed knowledge about what¡¯s happening in each area. The structure also provides for differing perspectives to be heard and resolved within the team. Mixing staff with varying areas of expertise will enhance the responsiveness and quality of decision-making.

The Planning Department is part of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission

White Oak Science Gateway Center Master Plan

Montgomery County planners are starting work on a master plan for the Cherry Hill/Food and Drug Administration (FDA) area this fall.

The plan will create a new vision for an expanded Cherry Hill area with the goal of developing a mixed-use life sciences center that builds upon the presence of FDA campus in White Oak. It will address the land use, urban design and transit access issues related to the future growth of the Cherry Hill area including the FDA, the proposed Washington Adventist Hospital, County¡¯s Site 2 (former WSSC site 2) and the Percontee property.
