Economic vitality is critical to our community's quality of life and the superb public services we have come to expect in Montgomery County. This is why even during the worst economic recession in our nation's history and in light of declining federal spending; a dramatic shift in office space use by both public and private sectors; and the increasingly competitive economic landscape, County Executive Leggett has been championing and taking a series of bold actions to advance major economic development initiatives for sustained economic growth. Together these actions demonstrate the County’s commitment to our community’s economic health and continued quality of life.
Our economic priority initiatives cover a broad range, from major development and transit projects (such as the White Oak Science Gateway anchored by the Food and Drug Administration and the Rapid Transit System) to innovation partnerships (such as BioHealth Innovation and the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence). Additionally, numerous initiatives have recently been advanced that will reshape the County's economic development landscape and introduce new efforts to adapt to a changing national and regional economy.
