Leukotrine Modifiers

(montelukast sodium)

Quiet Drug:

Oral leukotriene modifier

Singular (montelukast sodium) is a leukotriene modifier, a drug that interferes with the normal allergic response thus preventing bronchospasm, airway edema and inflammation.

Singular® is NOT to be administered by EMTBs per Maryland Medical Protocols

Drug Action: Leukotriene modifier (antiasthmatic)

Dose:

5-10 mg daily in the evening

Accolate®

(zafirlukast)

Quiet Drug:

Oral leukotriene modifier

Accolate (zafirlukast) is a leukotriene modifier, a drug that interferes with the normal allergic response thus preventing bronchospasm, airway edema and inflammation. It inhibits bronchoconstriction in asthmatics caused by cold air and by sulfur dioxide as well as reducing the allergic response to some allergens.

Accolate® is NOT to be administered by EMTBs per Maryland Medical Protocols

Drug Action: Leukotriene modifier (antiasthmatic)

Dose:

20 mg b.i.d.

Supplied as:

20 mg tablets

 

Zyflo™ filmtab®

(zileuton)

Quiet Drug:

Oral leukotriene modifier

Zyflo (zileuton) is a leukotriene modifier, a drug that interferes with the normal allergic response thus preventing bronchospasm, airway edema and inflammation. It inhibits bronchoconstriction in asthmatics caused by cold air as well as reducing the allergic response to some allergens.

600 mg q.i.d.
