MCFRS On-Line Training Registration System

All MCFRS Career personnel must use the On-Line Training Registration System (OTRS) to register for Public Service Training Academy (PSTA) classes.  Access to OTRS will be provided through a single sign-on web page at https://ext01.montgomerycountymd.gov/ent/s2/otrs/.   This upgrade will notify you that you have been registered for the class.  

The LFRD Training Coordinators will sign up all LFRD personnel for (PSTA) classes, including all LFRD ALS Licensed providers.

EMT Patch    Emergency Medical Technician (2012 New Curriculum): Initial Courses

 Note: This course is utilizing the newest curriculum which has added content hours as well as additional modules and examinations. The course name and certification title has also changed from EMT-Basic to EMT. 

The class start session on Thursday night June 14, 2012 is a mandatory class. The class start session will begin at 7:00 pm.  No enrolled/pre-enrolled or wait listed student will be admitted/seated in the class after that time.

Emergency Medical Technican - Basic: Recertification

  • In accordance with the Fire Chief's General Order # 10-13  as of January 1, 2011 all EMT-Basic recertifications will be accomplished in a 2 part process. It does not matter which part is done in which order.
    • Part 1:  Register via OTRS for 12 Hour On-Line Didactic portion
      • Once registered for the OnLine Class, you will have one month to complete it. 
      • Registrations must be received in OTRS by the 15th of the month. Within 15 days all providsers that meet the prerequisites for the class will receive a confirmation e-mail from the PSTA Registrar which will contain the link and registration information to log on to the On-Line Web Site.
      • The registered provider can log in and out freely for up to 1 year as a review.  They can view and print the course completion certificates as well.
    • Part 2:  Register via OTRS for the 12 Hour Instructor Lead Skills Class
      •  The 12 hour skills class will consist of four (4), three (3) hour sessions dealing with EMT-Basic psychomotor skill training, and a required MIEMSS Protocol Examination.
  • No matter when you complete both portions of the EMT-Basic Recertification process, MIEMSS does not issue a new provider card until you are within the last 3-4 weeks of your certification period.

        • This course will be limited to 20 persons and will meet or exceed the 1999 EMT-I curriculm. All students successfully completing this course and the National Regsiotry EMT-I examinations will be eligible to take the Maryland 1999 Cardiac Rescue Technician Licensing examination.

          • This course is limited to 20 persons and will meet and/or exceed the DOT National Standard Currirulm. This class will meet once per week and each session is repeated during that week. Review all prerequisites listed on the application

    Advanced Life Support Continuing Education Courses

    • ALS Refresher Course:  consists of five (5), six hour sessions that meet and/or exceed the current standards for recertification by the National Registry of EMT's. Each session includes both didactic and practical skills.

    • Category II Courses:  Courses that meet and/or exceed the current standards for recertification by the National Registry of EMT's.
