Certificate of Merit Food Facilities Receiving Certificate of Merit
The Food Service Facility Certificate of Merit is designed to encourage food service operators to maintain a standard of public health that is above simply passing an inspection. The certificate is issued only on routine inspections and represents the conditions at the time of the inspection. Criteria used to determine if a certificate is issued are:
> A Certified Food Service Manager is on the premises;
> There are no critical violations (imminent public health hazards) observed; and,
> There are no significant violations observed with testing thermometers, personal hygiene, sanitation of equipment and utensils, storage and use of toxic items, presence of insects or rodents, hand washing sinks, and food contamination.
