MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MARYLAND

is seeking applications from individuals or organizations who to lease space for child care services at two County owned sites within Montgomery County Public Schools.

 

Please read the information below prior to submitting an application

Important Site Location Notes

These locations are currently under construction as part of Renovation/Expansion builds through Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS).  Completion date and availability of occupancy is based on MCPS construction completion.  Anticipated completion for 2017-2018 school year.

These spaces will be available for new license in August 2017.  Applicants may bid for one or more of these locations.

Site Description 

Specifics per site:
The one classroom child care suites are each approximately 1650 square feet with 1050 square food classrooms, a 200 square foot office and food preparation areas.   The remaining square footage is allocated to the other areas, including storage and toilets.

Child care services should be for all-day child care.  Typically, child care services through Child Care in Public Space serves children infant to age five.  One-classroom spaces typically serve children 18 months to age five or pre-school to age five.
 

Final determination of capacity for the facility will be made by the Office of Child Care.

There will be NO tours conducted of these sites as they are currently under construction.

 Terms of lease and rent:

  • Real estate license term:  four years,  with one three year option to renew with adjustment of operating costs for each period.
  •  The current County rental rate is $11.35 per square foot per year (License Fee $9.56, with a possible increase every July 1 and an additional License Fee is the County's share of the cost of debt services equal to $1.79 per square foot) and includes the following:  utilities (except phone & internet), janitorial services, building and grounds maintenance, snow and trash removal and pest control. 
 Number of copies of the application required:
  •  Seven (7) copies of the applications MUST be submitted by mail or in person to 1401 Rockville Pike Suite 200- Rockville, MD 20852 by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 13, 2017
  • No late applications will be accepted. 
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Only one-inch spiral notebook bound applications will be accepted.
  •  We cannot accept electronic copies. 
General Information about the selection process and criteria:
  •  Written applications will be reviewed and scored by a Selection Committee comprised of County, MCPS, parents and community representatives.  Applicants with the scores 80 or over will be scheduled for interviews.
  • Recommendations of the selection committee will be based on written applications, interview and other appropriate information.
  • There is no commitment expressed or implied by the County government in soliciting applications.  The County reserves the right to reject any or all applications and to re-bid the space.
