PURPOSE AND GOALS
|
The goal of the Council is to express the view of the community in the formulation and administration of alcohol and other drug abuse prevention and treatment services in Montgomery County. Members of the Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Advisory Council serve as community representatives, who provide guidance to the County Executive and the County Council in identifying prevention and treatment needs and reviewing the County's efforts in addressing those needs. The Council will make recommendations in support of, or to improve, current prevention and treatment efforts.

MEMBERSHIP/TERMS
|
The Council consists of 16 voting members and 12 non-voting members, appointed by the County Executive, subject to confirmation by the County Council. Voting members serve three (3) year terms without compensation.

Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month, September through June 7:00pm-9:00pm, at 401 Hungerford Drive, 1st Floor Conference Center, Rockville, MD 20850.

Standing Committees
Executive Committee: This Committee shall consist of the Council Chairperson, immediate past Council Chairperson, the two Council Vice Chairpersons, the Council Secretary, and the Chairpersons of the Prevention, Treatment, and Enforcement Committees.
Prevention Committee: This Committee shall be responsible for keeping the Council informed of prevention information, issues and programs affecting alcohol and other drug abuse in the County; and recommending to the Council any plans and strategies that should be passed on to the County Executive, County Council, State Government, and Federal Government as part of the Council’s recommendations and advice.
Treatment Committee: This Committee shall be responsible for keeping the Council informed of treatment information, issues and programs affecting alcohol and other drug abuse in the County; and recommending to the Council any plans and strategies that should be passed on to the County Executive, County Council, State Government, and Federal Government as part of the Council’s recommendations and advice.
Enforcement Committee: This Committee shall be responsible for keeping the Council informed of enforcement information, issues and programs affecting alcohol and other drug abuse in the County; and recommending to the Council any plans and strategies that should be passed on to the County Executive, County Council, State Government, and Federal Government as part of the Council’s recommendations and advice.
